Easy to install

Fiat 500 key covers can be a great method to upgrade your keys. You can choose from a wide range of styles and colors to choose the one that matches your personal style. They can be installed by yourself in just ten minutes. You only need a screwdriver and some patience. The first step is to remove the original cover from your key. This needs to be removed before the new cover is installed.

After removing the old cover, you can make use of a flathead tool to remove the four main attachment clips off the passenger side of the fob assembly. These are marked in red on the picture below. Also note the tabs that locate slots in yellow that need to be disconnected also.

After removing the battery, replace it with a new 3 volt coin cell battery. Make sure that the "+" positive side of the battery is aligned to the opening on the fob and that the"-" negative side is facing toward the buttons made of rubber.

Reattach the passenger-side mirror cover by aligning locating tabs. Once you have completed this, insert the fob on the driver's side in your vehicle and test it by pressing the push button on the front of the car key. If everything is functioning properly the car should turn on the parking lights and your doors will lock automatically.

The battery is easy to replace by turning the switch a quarter turn using a tiny screwdriver with a flathead.

The key fob contains an internal microchip that is used to communicate with the Body Control Module (BCM). When you insert your Fiat key, it presses the button on the ignition switch. This is used to remind you of the "key-inignition". The BCM will then read the transponder that is on the key fob in order to confirm that it's a valid key.
